Breaking Barriers Showcase

"Never forget where you been, never lose sight of where you're going, and never take for granted the people who travel the journey with you." - Susan Gale

Our ROAR Students,

Welcome to the Breaking Barriers Showcase page! Here, you will find all information and documents regarding our preparation. I know I write a lot! Forgive me but I promise it’s worth it. I have emailed administration everything they need to review and approve our project. It’ll take a couple of days for them to review because it’s such a busy time for them, but we can still develop our plans.

Below you will find the proposal, timeline, and plans we have worked on together. You will also find valuable information regarding our fundraiser! Please thoroughly read everything and contact me with any questions or concerns. As we continue to develop our plans, I'll update this page. You will find everything for Breaking Barriers here.

I’m so proud of each of my students! Although I know each of you will make positive change in the world, I can’t wait to see what magic we make together!

Let’s make it great,

Danielle Salinas

Update 3-14-18 @ 10:04 p.m.:

My students,

First and foremost I want to thank you for all your hard work!  I’d also like say how PROUD I am of each and every one of you. You each have shown promise in leadership, communication, and critical thinking skills: skills, as you develop now, will use for the rest of your life. Together, you make ROAR invincible. Beyond a shadow of doubt, I know you each will make such great change in the world. I have spent my life living by Gandhi’s famous words, “be the change you want to see in the world” and while I still strive to reach that goal, you each will accomplish that and more. So, please give yourselves a pat on the back and take a moment to recognize your accomplishments. I know I have.

This evening, Ms. Flamer and the full administrative team has approved Breaking Barriers!! So, I ask that if you see Mr. Calzadilla, Mrs. Monge, Ms. Flamer, or Mrs. Salinas at any time, please thank them! Because without their absolute AMAZING love and support, we would not be able to do half the things in ROAR. As a sponsor and a student, I will always be thankful to them.

Now that the showcase has been approved, we have to wait for our flyers and period 1 visits to be approved. Our goal for homeroom visits is this Friday, March 16, 2018.

By the way! Tomorrow, all Dade students will find out if they have been accepted to their respective high schools. Although I do not have any 8th graders, I do wish the best for all  our Air Base 8th graders! This is an exciting time and something for all my ROAR kids to look forward to!!

NOTE: If you are a safety patrol, please text or email me as soon as possible.

And with that, I wish you a good night! I will send out a remind as soon as I get information.

Let's make it great,

Danielle Salinas

Fundraising:

What is our fundraiser?

Beginning Saturday, March 3, 2018, I  opened our first fundraiser! Custom Ink is an amazing business that develops our shirts and other products! They have such great service that I have used them several times in my four years as a mentor: both personally and for ROAR.

Aside from great products and service, they have fundraising plans that will help us immensely. We will be selling a ROAR Club tote bag at $15 each. Below is the link to our Custom Ink fundraising page. With that link, anyone can find more information about our fundraiser! You will also find a flyer that you can give to family and friends to check out our fundraiser at their leisure.

How can I help?

Students are encouraged to pass out the flyer or direct Custom Ink link to any family and friends interested in purchasing a bag! They can find all information regarding payment, product, and delivery/pick up on our page. Please advise that as of Sunday, March 4, 2018 we CANNOT fundraise on school campus during school hours. We are waiting approval but feel free to show family and friends!

Please feel free to contact me at anytime with any questions or concerns regarding fundraising. We are going to test this out for at least a week and if we get a lot of attention, I'll extend the fundraiser deadline. I have faith that we can make our goal!

 Printable Preorder Form:

Students,

I am noticing some buyers feel more comfortable purchasing a bag through an order form and turning in money. This is possible. Below is the link to the preorder form.

You can pass this out and anyone can bring it back to Mrs. Salinas in the Magnet Office filled out with the money stapled to the form or in an envelope. We will take care of the rest. Please be advised that the form is usually printed back to back but you can print it on two pages and the person can just bring back the second page.
