everything our students need to know about s.m.a.c.k night

Students,

First and foremost, I want to take a moment to recognize your accomplishments. It is not easy to work an event like S.M.A.C.K. All of my students have demonstrated leadership qualities that I can't WAIT to see come out this year.

I'm looking forward to making some of the sweet memories at our first event of the year.

Below you will find everything you will need to know about S.M.A.C.K. but if you still have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Proud of you,

Danielle Salinas

What are we going to be doing at

S.M.A.C.K  Night?

The 2016 - 2017 school year marks ROAR'S third year holding a S.M.A.C.K Night classroom activity.

Our activity is called Glow in the Dark Slime. Participating students will mix ingredients to create their slime.

Every classroom's activity is based on an educational math or science lesson. Our lesson will focus on the states of matter. Is slime a solid or liquid? What would you call an in between?

What do the students do at s.m.a.c.k?

One of our goals is to never let public speaking stop you from accomplishing something. But it takes time to build the confidence and skills for that.

Our students will help the participating students with mixing their slime, answer some of Danielle's questions to get the students interacting, and demonstrate the slime.

I'm  not staying the afternoon. how will I know where to go when it's time for me to work my session?

As of Friday, October 14th, 2016, classrooms have not been assigned yet.

By Tuesday, October 18, 2016 students will receive a final informational S.M.A.C.K form that will have our room number and the list of who is working in the three sessions.

I'm staying the afternoon. when will I change?

Around 5:00 p.m. students will be allowed to change into their attire for the evening.

Students who are coming back to school will arrive in their attire.

When/where do I let you know that I'm staying after school?

On the Choose Your Session page, you will  be able to choose yes  or no to staying  the afternoon. We need to know for safety reasons.

What do we wear?

All students should  be dressed in their ROAR t-shirts, blue jeans, or black pants.

No open toe shoes will be allowed.

When can I pick my session & can I change it later?

Students can pick their sessions beginning Saturday, October 15, 2016.

It's very important to understand that It is a first come, first serve basis. But as long as we have a minimum of five students per session, everyone will be in their first choice session.

The last day to choose or change your session is Tuesday, October 18, 2016.

if I'm working a session does that mean I can't participate in s.m.a.c.k?

No. Students are only required to work one session but can work more than one.

How do I pick my other two sessions?

ONLY our students will be able to choose their sessions early.

On Tuesday, I will have a complete list of the classroom activities for Wednesday and students can choose their two sessions.

On Wednesday, I will pass out bracelets at 5:30 p.m. for those students working the first session and/or who stayed the entire afternoon.

Students working session two and  three will need to come to our classroom to pick up their bracelets.
